2021 Highlights

In 2021 you were once again part of something amazing!

Despite the pandemic, the 6° team managed to achieve many things throughout 2021 with the support of our volunteers, sponsors, partners, and supporters from around the world. Below a summary of the highlights of 2021.

  • Debbie and Gita visited Nepal twice in March and November 2021. During their trips, they signed an MOU with local value-aligned partners who will contribute to, and support our eco soap factory project. They were also able to strengthen their relationships with existing partners.

  • In June, we changed our organisation’s name from 6° Academy for Women to 6° Network for Women. The new organisation will support our multi-faceted approach to provide sustainable programmes to marginalised women through business start-ups, business consultancy and skills development.

  • In July, we set up 6° Ventures B.V. to support our commercial activities that we are planning.

  • In June, we provided 42 Musahar families with food packages during the second Covid-19 lockdown through our Connecting Hands social engagement programmes.

  • The Musahar women made great progress with the organic farm despite the big floods during the monsoon season in October which destroyed most of the crops. To help them, we raised funds to provide the necessary supplies to plant new crops. A polyhouse (polythene sheet green house) has also been built which can be used during the monsoon season.

  • The poultry farm became a reality with 100 white and 100 black chickens offering the Musahar women better income-generating opportunities by selling the eggs at the local market.

  • We were able to continue with our Driver’s training programme for 9 motivated women despite the covid-19 lock-downs. They have been working on practical driving lessons and will be sitting for their exams soon.

  • In November, Triodos Foundation became our official sponsor for our economic skills development programme for the Musahar women who will be working in our future eco-friendly soap factory.

  • In December, we raised almost 100 social building blocks (Euro 2,455) during our Christmas Fundraising Campaign for our three-year social empowerment programme for two adjacent Musahar villages.

A big thank you to all our sponsors, value-aligned partners, volunteers, and other supporters! In 2022 our focus will remain on supporting the marginalised communities in Chitwan by creating business opportunities and empowering them both socially and economically. We will further streamline, optimise and grow our existing projects, make a start with our sustainable eco soap factory and intensify and expand our partnerships with other like-minded organisations.
